[CF Devotionals] 2020-08-01 - Answering to God

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV) This is what the LORD says: ”Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,“ declares the LORD.

Recently several powerful technology executives appeared before Congress to answer questions about their business practices and censorship of people whose views they do not share. These leaders were compelled to explain why they had made certain decisions which affected millions of people. They couldn’t hide.

Similarly, each one of us is called by God to answer for our own actions and decisions. We cannot hide from Him. Our money and power don’t matter. Blaming someone else will not work with God. What counts is how we honor God and how we treat others. Do we act with kindness, justice, and righteousness? Do we reflect Jesus to others?
