[Calvary Chapel] 2020-08-06 - Justice for Yzzah

- - - - - - -

2 Samuel 6:7 7 Then the Lord became angry with Uzzah; God struck him on that spot, and he died there in God’s presence.

Uzzah; God struck him on that spot, and he died there in God’s presence. The Arch of the Covenant is being moved some distance to Baala if Judah. As the arch reached a threshing floor the oxen caused the Ark to tip. Uzzah reached out to steady the Arc of God and Gid struck him dead on the spot.

God had said never to touch the Arc of God. Read 2 Samuel 6:1-7. The text says that Uzzah was killed "It was because God is holy". Uzzah reacted like a lot of people would to prevent a precious object like the Arc of God from falling and being damaged. But there was a rule that was more important. A warning. Uzzah had failed to honor the warning.

For us it is harder to understand why Uzzah's error cost him his mortal life. Stop and read the 2 Samuel chapter 2 and see if parts of this become more clear. There are good notes in some of the online Bible sites like BibleGateway.com. Don't be afraid to look for other good sites.

Lord Jesus. This is where we need to lean on You. This is a little hard for Your children understand completely. With a little prayer and reading time the fog begins to lift. Taking our questions to people we know with study and a willingness to share the answers to our questions may be found. Thank You Lord for all the people you have put into our lives with purpose. Lord, please help us to find justice for Uzzah in Your eyes. Amen!
