2020-08-11 - The Right Remedy
Recently, I was having chest congestion, enough to warrant medicine but not a doctor visit. Thinking to avoid the necessity of standing in a line in a drug store (not the best time, right now!), I took the over-the-counter version of the SAME medicine. Even though I had taken it before with no issues, this time, it sent me spinning into a vertigo episode from which it took me several days to recover. What I thought was a remedy ended up becoming a new problem.
Fortunately, when it comes to our problem of being sinners, and needing not only forgiveness but purpose, we have easy acces to the knowledge, in God's word. We do not need to dabble in other religions, nor to try to find our purpose in our career, volunteer work or even church - though God does give us callings in those areas. Christ Himself gave us the clear answer to our most important dileema in life, regarding the source of our moral compass as well as our eternal destiny.
As Christ told Thomas and the other disciples, and was recorded in the book of John: 1 Do not let your heart be troubled; [a]believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going.” 5 Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” 6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
