2020-08-24 - Fear Versus Faith
God is our protection and our strength. He always helps in times of trouble. So we will not be afraid even if the earth shakes, or the mountains fall into the sea, even if the oceans roar and foam, or the mountains shake at the raging sea. (Psalm 46:1-3 NCV)
If my faith is to be bigger than my fear, why are the fears so much louder in my head? I know God is powerful, and fear does not originate with Him, but there are moments when I let fear take over. In some respects, it's easier to believe the thoughts and possible scenarios that plague my brain.
If I go on a limb and remind myself what the Bible says concerning fear, amazingly, God's superpowers show up. The fear gets weaker when I begin to believe and profess that I do have a sound mind, and that God in His perfect love casts out fear. (2 Timothy 1:7 and 1 John 4:18-19)
My timidness is still present, but now only a tiny bit - enough to see there is a better way than to fear and worry. I can relax and seek God's advice on how to handle the situations instead of living in fright of what may happen.
Lord, Show me how Your grace is sufficient to help me face these problems. Let me automatically go to You instead of fearing when a dilemma pops up. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
