[Calvary Chapel] 2020-08-27 - A Time to be Merciful

Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Those of us who are Believers have a challenge tonight. We have a call to our hearts and minds. There are those who will disagree with me, and they will just have to disagree. A while back a dangerous virus was possibly accidentally release, etc., etc. in China. The virus has spread around the world. There are many people who have died. I won't go into the details. There are people all over the world trying to develop a cure to put an end to this disease.

Tonight there is another disaster in China. I just got a note from a friend who tells me that the Three Bridges Dam in China is trying to hold back floodwaters that are nearing the limits of the structure of the dam. I don't have any idea how many people are down river from the Three Rivers Dam. But I know there are not a few. How many can be rescued or escape on their own? Is it there time?

It is not ours to point a finger at people who are in the potential path of a devastating flood. To say they are being judged is to stand in judgement. Instead, we should be on our knees praying for these people that are trying to escape and for the ones who are trying to manage the largest dam in the world to save their country folk. There are a large number if Christians who love Jesus and risk their lives to meet and worship or read a Bible in very secluded places to try to avoid being arrested. There are others they would like to reach with the good news of Jesus Christ. Please join us in prayer for the people who are in danger tonight.

Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.

Dear Lord Jesus - we come to you now from where ever we are what whatever time it is with out hearts pouring out for these people of China who are in the way of a potentially terrible flood hoping to escape or to be rescued before it is to late. Savior, please guide the people trying to prevent the disaster or to reach and save the people that they can safe. Their families and friends are trying to help each other where they can. Lord please, open the doors for them to find safety. Give Your believing people who are there opportunities to reach out to show them Your hand at work of this is your will. Blessings to them all! Amen
